Happyfit is my business - set up in April 2010. I am Rachel Stevenson, 37 years old, married and mum to three children, 2 girls 8 and nearly 2 and one boy of 4 years old. I live and work in Shropshire. I currently teach four Pilates classes, one circuit training class and have about three to five Personal Training clients on the go. I am looking to start Children's Fitness Classes soon. I work in local village halls and in private clients' homes.
I aim to make fitness and nutrition accessible to all. I try to make things simple (but not neccessarily easy!) and, above all, effective. I know what it is like to be overweight and unfit and I know that being fit and healthy makes me happy and that is what I bring to my classes and clients - reality and results!
I started training with Future Fit in 2008, when my boy was 1 year old. I started with anatomy and physiology, gym instructor, circuits and torso training. In 2009, I added Personal Training, Nutrition and Weight Management and beginner Pilates. All these courses, which are studied on-line and in weekend workshops added up to a City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Exercise, Health and Fitness Instruction. Oh, and I also had a baby in the middle of 2009.
I began teaching Pilates and Circuit Training classes once a week in my local village halls and carried on with my training. I added intermediate and advanced Pilates, Client Psychology and Sports Nutrition and Children's Health and Fitness Training in 2010. I did GP referal in 2011 and have just embarked on my Level 3 Teaching Certificate in Pilates which should be completed by the end of 2011.
I love my job and how I can improve my client's lives - whether it is reaching their goals of losing weight, or running three miles, or easing back pain and increasing range of motion - and I will continue studying and improving my classes and skills to further benefit my clients.
